The ideal USCE experience involves a hands-on rotation with a small group of students, ideally not exceeding six per rotation. This allows ample opportunities for learning about the US healthcare system and facilitates effective connections with preceptors and fellow participants.
For strategic planning, it's recommended to pursue USCE in the specialty or specialties you plan to apply to, ideally for a duration of at least three months or even longer. This extended exposure helps build a competitive residency profile.
Regardless of whether it's a university, hospital, or out patient rotation, the quality and personalization of the letter of recommendation are the most important. It's not just about the header; rather, the content of the letter holds the utmost importance.
Our preceptors have limited availability each month, underscoring the importance of planning several months in advance to secure a confirmed rotation spot.
Between the last week of March and September, following the Match results and leading up to the submission deadline, there's a significant surge in demand for USCEs. This period presents an excellent opportunity for networking and collaboration with fellow students, ideal for applicants who enjoy group activities.
Alternatively, students seeking more individualized attention from our preceptors may prefer rotations scheduled from October to February. During these months, there tends to be fewer students seeking USCEs as many are preoccupied with the interview phase of the match process
Each rotation is typically scheduled for a minimum of 4 weeks, allowing students to immerse themselves fully in the experience. However, we understand that some applicants may have constraints that limit their availability. In such cases, we may offer the flexibility of a 2-week rotation at a special price, subject to availability.
Residency programs often prioritize applicants with a substantial USCE profile from diverse preceptors. Comprehensive understanding of the specialty and exposure to various practices in the U.S. take time to develop.
To qualify for our residency advocacy campaign and receive a personalized letter of recommendation; aside from being merit-based, the rotations must be at least 4 weeks in duration, ensuring ample opportunity for meaningful engagement and learning.
Letters of recommendation are provided upon completion of the rotation, indicating the duration of the student's participation, but it's important to note that the content is merit-based.
A personalized letter of recommendation is extended when the preceptor is genuinely satisfied with the student's performance. Often, they prioritize qualities such as character, work ethic, and personality, recognizing that these attributes are just as crucial, if not more so, than sheer academic prowess.
The letters of recommendation cannot be simply bought like a commodity. Instead, they are earned through the student's demonstrated performance, dedication, and merit during their rotation.
At USCE MATCH, we uphold the highest standards of integrity in our letter of recommendation process. Unlike some organizations, we never allow students to write their own letters of recommendation. Instead, we facilitate an objective evaluation process where students are assessed by their preceptors during their rotation.
Prior to the start of their rotation, students are briefed on the evaluation process. Following the rotation, we conduct post-evaluation sessions with each student to discuss their performance and address any areas for improvement.
Allowing students to write their own letters of recommendation can compromise the credibility of the recommendations and raise red flags during the application process. Our approach ensures that recommendations are authentic and reflect the true capabilities of our students, enhancing their application profiles and maximizing their chances of success.
We strive to maintain competitive rates while upholding the excellence of our services. We firmly believe that your aspiration to become a U.S. doctor should never be compromised.
Our Green Excellence Award (G.E.A.) recognizes applicants with promising credentials, potentially offering discounts on select services. Please note, this is exclusive to first-time applicants, although we may also consider special deals for those requiring multiple USCEs.
We hope to ensure that every applicant receives the best possible assistance and guidance on their journey with us. Thus, we offer various packages and options available to suit different needs and budgets. If you have any pricing concerns or wish to explore options further, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.
Many of our past and current students and applicants are deeply engaged in various endeavors, including research, residency and fellowship preparations, hospitalist work, and the delicate balance of personal and professional responsibilities. We greatly value and respect their privacy, which is why we do not proactively share their contact information.
We do showcase the successes of our alumni through our Hall of Fame on our website. We hope that their stories, experience and achievements with USCE MATCH serve as inspiration for aspiring applicants, encouraging them to pursue their American dream of becoming doctors despite the myriad challenges they may face.
